Kinell Innovates!
Kinell Engineering is a multidisciplinary engineering office specialising in R&D&I for off-highway mobile equipment, including machinery, boats, and generator sets.
Since its founding, the company has contributed to reducing CO₂ emissions from heavy machinery by developing solutions based on new energy sources: electrification, hybridisation, and hydrogen fuel cells.
Faced with growing challenges—safety, comfort, intelligence, autonomy, energy efficiency, and emissions reduction—our clients across all sectors (agriculture, forestry, airports, construction, handling, naval, defence, and more) rely on our expertise.
We are involved at every stage of development: R&D, technical and economic feasibility studies, design through to assembly drawings, and, when needed, prototyping.
Our areas of expertise include:
-
Powertrain, electrification, and decarbonisation
-
Embedded software for mobility and operational functions
-
Mobile robotics (wheeled or tracked)
-
Machine connectivity and associated services
-
Functional safety of programmable systems
-
Management of innovative off-highway projects

Testimonial: Romain, Electronics Development Engineer & Electrical Designer
"I work on the development of human-machine interfaces and embedded controllers, as well as creating electrical schematics for complete low- or high-voltage machines. We collaborate as a team on projects where everyone brings their own area of expertise.
No two projects are ever the same, they’re all unique, which makes my job really interesting.
For example, I worked on the HMI for 'L’éléphant' at Les Machines de l’Île in Nantes. I even travelled to a client in the United States!
I love my work and the challenges I’m given. I have a lot of autonomy, adapt to client needs, and it’s a real driving force for me to keep learning and growing!"
Testimonial: Philippe, Project Manager
"Working in innovation means having the chance to explore new ideas every day and contribute to projects that are as varied as they are exciting. Seeing our studies come to life and turn into tangible, useful machines is a tremendous source of pride.
The trust our clients place in us confirms that Kinell Engineering is a true reference partner. It’s extremely rewarding to know that our work accelerates development and innovation for machine manufacturers, both in France and internationally.
Beyond the technical aspects, it’s the richness of the exchanges, the variety of challenges, and the collaborative spirit that motivate me every day. Each project is an opportunity to learn, grow, and push boundaries. This dynamic is what excites me and makes me continue to enjoy this profession so much."
Testimonial: Anthony, General Manager
"I’m proud to work with a multidisciplinary team recognised in niche markets.
The company has grown alongside me. The team is stable, and some of my colleagues have been with me since its founding, which means a lot to me.
We’ve managed to build a strong team spirit and culture of support. This cohesion allows us to overcome the challenges that come with innovation."
Our Nantes site
Our Automation, Industrial IT and Robotics Division is based in Nantes.
We are located in the Bas-Chantenay district, just a short walk from the city centre but far enough to enjoy peace and quiet. Here, you can work in a calm, green environment, between the Jardin Extraordinaire and the Parc des Oblates.
🚲 Cycling to work? Safe cycle paths lead directly to our site, and we have a covered bike parking area.
